Course Description
This CLE program will review the basic principles of liability for personal injury or death of a passenger on an international flight under the Montreal Convention. Christopher B. Kende, Member at Cozen O’Connor, and Adjunct Professor of Transportation and Maritime Law at Brooklyn Law School will provide a chronological overview of the various treaties and private agreements involving international air carrier liability, and will review the requirements for liability, periods during which the conventions apply, damages, and potential defenses to liability. He will also walk through many of the important items of consideration when bringing an action, such as jurisdiction and limitation of actions. Finally, Mr. Kende will share his own insights on how to best protect your clients when defending a Montreal Convention claim.
