Course Description
“Politicization” of criminal justice is the undue influence of political considerations upon those involved in the investigation, prosecution, defense, or adjudication of criminal cases. As concerns and allegations about politicization of American criminal justice rise, join a distinguished group of speakers committed to the rule of law, including defense lawyers, former prosecutors, judges, and journalists
representing a range of experiences and voices as they discuss these issues and more.
Since the last such dialogue in March 2019, new cases raising these issues have emerged, some gripping the political and legal systems like never before. Our distinguished speakers will address such cases as well as the guardrails that are (or are not) in place to prevent potential abuses of prosecutorial and judicial power and discretion.
The goal of this program is to foster a non-partisan discussion and path forward to prevent genuine instances of politicization, to promote accurate information, and to strengthen the public's faith in the justice system.
